I'm from the "classic" era of fans ('77-'85); those of us who remember when The Soul Searchers (before it was "Chuck Brown And...") and Experience Unlimited used to do it 6 nights a week (ya'll say IBEX--I'll say MAVERICK ROOM!!), all thru the Trouble Funk all-star shows at the Colleseum, up to when ISLAND Records tried to take it all national-but couldn't.

Hell, I'll even drop WOL-1450 on ya'll---that's where all the jams were played first and best. I may not have seen plenty of shows (they started WHEN they started, boy!!), but the shows I DID see (mainly at the Collesuem) were legendary. And yes, I DID see the Junkyard Band when they were 'spuds', opening up for Chuck and Trouble, and turning the joint out. Legends in the making in '80!!!
DC's homegrown funk gave rise to legends. And, I'd like to tell ya'll about some of those Washington Colleseum shows.
