FOR ME THE SONG " THE LOVE WE MAKE " FROM THE " Emancipation " CD IS MY FAV. THAT SONG GOT ME THROUGH A VERY HARD TIME IN MY LIFE . I LOVE AND THANK PRINCE FOR WRITTING IT .

THE LOVE WE MAKE BY: PRINCE & THE NPG
FRON THE 1996 " Emancipation " CD

Desperate is the day that is 2morrow
4 those who do not know the time has come
2 whip the dogs that beg, steal or borrow
>From the table God set 4 His Son

Wicked is the witch that stands 4 nothing
All the while watching 2 see U fall
Deeper than the ditch that bred your suffering
The one being dug right now by them all

Happy is the way 2 meet your burdens
No matter how heavy or dark the day
Pity on those with no hope 4 2morrow
It's never as bad as it seems until we say

Precious is the baby with a mother
That tells him that his Saviour is coming soon
All that believe will cleanse and purify themselves
Put down the needle, put down the spoon {x2}

Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing, oh
While seeking 2 give thanks 4 every breath we take, oh
Blessed are we inside this prayer
4 in the new world, we will be there

The only love there is, is the love we make {x2}
(The only love there is, is the love we make)
Only love there is, only love there is
The only love there is, is the love we make (Yeah)
The only love there is, is the love we make

For me its When U Were Mine. I just love upbeat, catchy songs and this one definitely does it for me. As soon as I started getting into Prince this song had me hooked. A close second is Adore because that is the song that I will be using for my first dance at my wedding and it may be the nastiest love song ever written. The lyrics are funky within a ballad.

I likes " SEXY M@THERF@CKER "  I LIKES THIS BECAUSE PRINCE IS A SEXY M@THER F@CKER AND SO AM I "

Tough one .... I dig "17 days", as well as "another lonely Christmas" .... man, there are too many! " theives in the temple" , " never take the place of your man".... come on!... what kind of question is this ...?? "bambi" , " when doves cry", " erotic city", " horney toad" ..... ? you're joking right? one song...? "anotherloverholeinyohead", " nothing compares to you" , " black sweat".....I casn't take this ... I'M OUT!!!!!!
My love is forever. So much gifted talent, from one so young.
My absolute favorite is When doves cry. It is beautiful.
Pop Life
because just when the world was truly his for the taking, comes this amalgamating piece, that is; beautiful as all his ballads (except "Adore"); funkier than all his funks (including "D.M.S.R"); freaky as all the freakies (including "Doves Cry N Erotic City"); deep as the deep ("god, the ladder, etc.); as great a "rock" song as all the great rock songs (yes, including "Bambi", which occupies the same space on old school albums); as pop as all the great pop (including the great "Kiss"); as social as all (except the great "Sign of the Times")...
Pop Life
because he releases the album with no singles, until pressured
"Rasberry Beret" hits, sort of...
then "Pop Life" doesn't
if (if he was still feelin it) he had, as with "Doves Cry", released this gem prior 2 the release of this quirky "personal statement" (even 4 Prince) album, the momentum would have continued 2 build and.....
it was the moment that i was reassured that he was still just human after all, and n the long run may have enabled us 2 appreciate him ever more
point is "human" or not, these were, as w/ the "symbol", his decisions
where r tiger & obama w/out Prince?
Can U Get 2 That?
Dig! $ today it's allways "another lonely x-mas" that song really fucks with my emotions and I'm a Funkadelic I won't do you know harm,I might spray purple pee pee on ya'll but I will do u now harm and yes we live 2 C the Dawn!
I must admit I'm early fan,(77-87) I had this argument with Dr.Funkenstein one day about how I only like the really early Prince stuff like when he was a new (Warn.ur Brothers.)artist he was just raw as hell like early P-Funk which blew my mind when he testified about his love for the U.S, Funk Mob but to hear him say it well.....deeper still nuff said! I like the vibe so my top 5 would be in my personal stash of jams by Mr.Nelson

1.Bambi-Cuz I played it with my first kick ass band in 1984 when I was in 9th Grade and we "KILLED IT"!
2.Irresistable Bitch- cause it taught me how to get loose on the drums and I knew that was his ass cuz, Bobby Z was gr8 but never that mufuggin funky! Plus I had a girlfriend in 7th grade who pissed me off and I would recite the backwards part of "bitch" in class to piss her and the nuns off who hated Prince ofcourse!
3.Sexy Dancer 12" long version cuz I heard it only a few times and it's hot as hell too many stories behind it!
4.Cookie Jar-which is a Parliament cover he did when he first hooked up with George Clinton and you know if he picks a cover of your song not only is it flattering but he basically makes it his own song seriously!
5.The extended version of Computer Blue which is in my personal collection now thank GOD!
must get me some dem cookies
computer2
that was a kick-ass obscure-but-not-really top 5
and u may note WE BOTH R PARTIAL 2 77-LOVESEXY?
Too many Prince songs I could consider favorites, but I'll try:

1) "Sexuality": I didn't like it at first, but the funky new-wave sound grew on me like cancer. You just can't shake the funk off of you after listening to it.

2) "I Wanna Be Your Lover": one of the first memorable songs of my childhood (age 9)...so soulful with a very sweet falsetto voice (truthfully, I didn't know that Prince actually did this song, until I was in my late teens).

3) "No Light in a Large Room (Welcome to the Rat Race)": definitely an unreleased track from the PARADE/CHERRY MOON era with lots of brass input by Eric Leeds & Atlanta Bliss....a very energetic, lively jazz-pop tune that definitely speaks to the way life is today......

"U ever feel Life's like looking 4 a penny in a large room with no light?"
Damn another hard one. I saw Prince in 79 in NYC Raw and Funky, Bambi the hardest one he's done done. My band C-Slop is covering it now. Dondi aka Sho Nuff Nicety!
Mmmm,

I really do not believe in favorites. Everything we speak and hear are for us to get through life. Songs that are on my daily rotation are, The Ladder, Starfish & Coffee, Old Friends for sale, It, & Free. This is how I start my daily commute to work.
Gett Off coz it reminds me of school!
